Client: Benugo, Science Museum London
Commissioned to design a new centerpiece café, the 'Cosmonaut Cafe', for BENUGO at the Science Museum London. With a new exhibit opening that focused on Cosmonaut history, the café design took on-board an attitude of the space age.
Inside this listed building, the host interior space we occupied, was a narrowing corridor environment that increased into a large hall. The proposed design reflects facets of the space age, working with air stream curves that enable human movement and traffic flow in and around the serving areas of the cafe.
Whilst the design brings about movement it also looks to create visual connectivity through open steel casement structures and transparent material screens. The controlled palette of materials, colours and textures discuss the space age’s pragmatic high tech reflective surfaces.
